Main screen
When you first load ZIMACS, the main screen will appear after any packing or expire processing has taken place.
Caption bar
The caption bar at the top of the screen shows the ZIMACS version. The current mailbox is also displayed if you have more than one mailbox.
Received On Last Call Panel
This panel shows your last download statistics and displays the number of mail items and the number of news items received. In the event of a bad connection error an appropriate message will be displayed here.
This serves as an immediate window for the current ZIMACS session. After restarting the software, the same information for the last call you made will be shown underneath the MOTD (Message Of The Day) - see below. If you have Manual processing selected in the Configuration program, and you have an unprocessed packet waiting for you, the Process button will be enabled.
Mail/News Waiting to be sent and Requested Files
All your outgoing mail messages and news articles will be displayed in these two list boxes. If the 'Send' check box is checked then both your queued mail and news will be sent when you next perform an automatic or Internet call.
To edit a message in the queue, simply double click it with the left mouse button.
To delete a message from the queue, simply highlight it and press the 'Delete' key.
Note that draft messages are prefixed with * and will not be sent.
Tip: Placing the mouse cursor over the pending item will show the author name and subject.
Tip: Left click a pending item then right click it to preview the item in the MOTD window.
The 'Files requested' panel lists the files that you have selected to download from the ZIMACS file area. When you next perform an Automatic or Internet connection the files will be downloaded and placed in your received files directory.
On-Line Details
ZIMACS will monitor your usage and cost of calls to the Internet. This information is logged to a file that you can view by clicking the 'View' button - see
connection log for more details. Click on the 'Reset' button to clear your On-line time and cost.
Message Of The Day
The most up-to-date information regarding your Zetnet account will be displayed in the MOTD. Zetnet will often place messages informing you of planned maintenance or software upgrades here so it is very important that you read it.
Information regarding the size of the incoming packet you last downloaded will also be shown.
You can check the MOTD at any time while on-line by using a Finger client and fingering status@status.zetnet.co.uk. You can download a Finger client from: http://www.tucows.com.
