Icon definitions
Exit
The Exit icon takes you out of the Mail Read screen and back to the ZIMACS Mail Screen.
Previous/Next Message
These arrows move between messages without having to exit the current message and then double-click on the next message. If the messages are ordered by author, then pressing the arrow to move onto the next message will take you onto the next message of that author regardless of whether or not it has been read before. If the mail is in date order i.e. you have unsorted checked then you will move onto the next e-mail message on the list regardless of the author.
Next unread message
This icon allows you to read only the mail that is waiting to be read rather than having to move through previously received and read mail.
Tip: Pressing the middle mouse button when the mouse cursor is over the message body text will move to the next unread item.
New message
Pressing this icon takes you to the Mail Write screen and fills in the To: box with the e-mail address of the person who sent the e-mail you were reading.
Reply to message
Pressing this icon creates a dialog box which asks you if you wish to quote the original message. Once you have decided, the Mail Write screen appears with the e-mail address of originator already filled into the To: box.
Tip: You can include part of the message by highlighting the text before clicking on Follow-up.
Forward message
This allows you to send an e-mail received by you to a different person. When the icon is pressed, the Mail Write screen appears with the message quoted in full. All that is required is for you to fill in the e-mail address of the person you wish to forward the e-mail to. The message can be edited as required before sending.
Tag message
The allows you to tag the message for working with later on. This is explained in a later section.
Show header
Pressing this icon displays the e-mail header. This contains information about the message itself and includes the Internet route that the message took, the date posted, the software used to post the message and the authors name.
Save message
This allows you to save the message as a text file. When pressed a dialog box appears asking for a filename to be given.
Print message
Pressing this icon allows you to print out the message you are currently reading. When pressed the standard Windows printer dialog box appears. To print the message simply press the OK button. The printer will be the default Windows printer. This can be changed by using the File/Default Printer menu item.

Auto-expire
By default the check box is checked and the message will be expired after the period set up within the Mail section of the Configuration program. To override this you simply uncheck this box.
Delete message
Pressing this button deletes the message currently being read. If there are messages after the current one you will be moved onto the next e-mail in the list.
Tip: Right click on the sender address to bring up the kill file with the sender address in the Address box. Shift and right click on the subject to add it to the kill file.
Tip: Double click on the sender address to add it to the Address Book.
Tip: Double click on a URL to open it with your default browser.
