Decoding attachments

ZIMACS supports Base 64 and UUEncoded file attachments sent via email or news articles.

Decoding Attachments

The easiest method to decode a single attachment is by clicking the Decode icon in Mail or News read.

ZIMACS will decode the message and place the file in your Received Files directory. ZIMACS will try and automatically detect the filename of the attached file, however, if it fails to do so it will prompt you for a filename. A clue to the attachments filename is usually in the Subject or one of the other headers of the message. If you have already decoded a file with the same name, ZIMACS will prompt you to overwrite. If you choose not to, you will again be prompted for a filename.

The other method is to use tagging. Tag the message with the attachment and then press the Decode button on the tag panel.

Decoding multiple attachments

A mail or news item may contain more than one attachment. ZIMACS will decode all of them when the Decode icon button is pressed.
