Automatic and Internet connections

There are two types of connection you can make through ZIMACS to Zetnet, Auto and Internet. When one of these is clicked, the connection control dialog box will appear on the screen. This box shows the current date, time, and elapsed time of the call. It also shows the status of your connection to Zetnet. You will see a percentage bar indicating how much of the waiting packet being sent or downloaded has been received. The two connection methods differ as follows:

Automatic Connection

An automatic connection connects to Zetnet, sends any mail or news that you have created and collects any mail or news packets which may be waiting for you. Once these packets have been collected ZIMACS will automatically close the connection to Zetnet and depending on the processing method, will start to unpack the received packets.

Internet Connection

An Internet Connection is used when you wish to make use of the World Wide Web or any other feature of the Internet. As with an Auto connection you will send any messages that you have created and collect any waiting mail and news packets, but rather than disconnect you, ZIMACS will continue to connect you to the Internet and the Internet Clients toolbar will be displayed.
