Performance is generally slow when I write a new email or news item.
It is likely that you have selected the option to automatically spell check whilst typing. This option requires significant resources, and may lead to slow down on older computers. To disable this, go to Options in ZIMACS and deselect "check during typing" in the Spelling section.
