ZIMACS 2 can be downloaded using your web browser. This guide discusses both the installation of a new copy of ZIMACS on a computer and the updating of an existing installation. Unless stated otherwise, all of these instructions apply to both a new install and an upgrade. Explicit instructions for downloading ZIMACS 2 using Netscape and Internet Explorer are given below, though any browser can be used. For other browsers, the instructions will be similar to those using Netscape or Internet Explorer.

Note that the screenshots given in the installation guide were taken using Windows 98, Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape 4. If you use different software versions, there will be minor differences to the appearance of some screens. Due to the screenshots, some of these pages may take a few minutes to load.

Before you begin installation, please ensure that Dial Up Networking is installed. If you currently have a working internet connection in Windows then DUN is correctly installed, but if you are unsure of this instructions to check are available here.
